Democracy is The Greatest Revenge

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

I was reading Wall Street Journal on my flight back to Jakarta from Pekanbaru when i read the touching speech of Mr. Asif Ali Zardari in remembering his wife’s assassination, dated 2 years back.

Two years ago the world stopped for me and for my children. Pakistan was shaken to its core and all but came apart. Women everywhere lost one of their greatest symbols of equality. And Islam, our great religion, lost its modern face.

On Dec. 27, 2007, my wife, Benazir Bhutto, was assassinated. She was the bravest person I have ever known, and the second anniversary of her death is an appropriate occasion to reflect upon what she achieved for our country, and how her legacy must be preserved against those who would return Pakistan to darkness.

Twice elected prime minister of Pakistan, Benazir had an immense impact. She stood up and defeated the forces of military dictatorship. She freed all political prisoners. She ended press censorship. She legalized trade and student unions, built 46,000 primary and secondary schools and appointed the first female judges in our history. And she showed the women of Pakistan and the world that they must accept no limits on their ability and opportunity to learn, to grow and to lead in modern society.

The target of two assassination attempts by Osama bin Laden in the 1990s, Benazir repeatedly warned a skeptical world of the impending danger from extremists and militants. In her last campaign—even on the very day of her death, by the hands of such extremists—she mobilized and rallied the people of Pakistan against the terrorist threat.

Benazir’s murderers didn’t kill her dreams. On the day we buried her, even as her supporters cried out for revenge, we reminded our party and country that, in her own words, “democracy is the greatest revenge.” And then we led the Pakistan People’s Party to victory in the elections.

Since then, fulfilling the electoral manifesto she wrote, the nation’s economy, which had been left in shambles by the priorities of a decade of dictatorship, has been stabilized and revitalized. Food shortages have ended. Power shortages have diminished. We have adopted a national curriculum for the first time in history to challenge the spread of politicalmadrassas. Constitutional reforms are being finalized which will rid Pakistan of the undemocratic provisions inserted by military dictators that expanded the power of the presidency at the expense of parliament.

Benazir Bhutto died confronting the forces of tyranny and terrorism, and Pakistan remains committed to the struggle that she led. We have reclaimed Swat and Malakand from the militants and rehabilitated the displaced persons back into their homes. We have taken the fight against militants to other areas, including South Waziristan in our Federally Administered Tribal Areas, and to our major cities, and we will win this war against them.

We will not let militants violently impose their political agenda on the people. Political ownership of the war against terrorism rests with the people of Pakistan for the first time. We are in the front trenches of this war while the community of nations stands with us.

Much has been accomplished, but it has not been easy for my nation, for my party or for my family. The forces in Pakistan that have resisted change, modernity and democracy for 30 years still attempt to derail progress.

Some of these forces who were allied with dictatorship in the past now hope that the judicial process can undo the will of a democratic electorate and destabilize the country. A litany of ancient charges of corruption—the modus operandi of past plots against every democratically elected government in Pakistan—now threatens to undermine the legitimacy of our government.

Those that will not stand with us against terrorism stand against us in the media. I have spent almost 12 years in prison on trumped up charges never proven, even by a court system manipulated by dictators and despots. But like Benazir, I refuse to be intimidated.

So let the legal process move forward. Those of us who have fought for democracy against dictatorship for decades do not fear justice; we embrace it.

My ministers, my party, leaders of other parties and thousands of civil servants across our nation will defend themselves in the courts if necessary. Democracy has come a long way in Pakistan, and the People’s Party has always been at the vanguard of the fight. In 1979 Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Benazir’s father and the elected prime minister of Pakistan was executed under a smokescreen that history now characterizes as a judicial murder. Two decades later Benazir was indicted on fabricated charges on the orders of her political enemies then in power. When tape recordings of these government officials ordering the courts to fabricate evidence and false witness against Benazir were made public, these trumped-up charges were dismissed.

Those of us who have been victims of dictatorship in the past believe in the rule of law and have faith in the judicial process. We believe, in the words of my wife, that “time, justice and the forces of history are on our side.”

We have not come this far in our democratic struggle to fail. In this struggle, I am inspired by my father-in-law, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who said that he “would rather die at the hands of dictators than be killed by history.”

Pakistan has suffered from extremist and terrorism, and so do we, Indonesia. Children are being recruited at extreme madrasa and changed into a suicidal bomber to spread fear and killing those who innocents. Hundreds of people has died, and time has stopped for the family who left behind…

Although the end of war with terrorism does not seem to come at any time soon, Pakistan had shown an effective ways that we can also implement to fight terrorism at its root. Not with weapons, but through providing education! National curricula is a must. In addition, we also need to provide villagers and remote area’s inhabitants with proper education, even for the poorest students, so that it will be more difficult for them to be recruited by terrorist. Greg Mortenson aware of this and he built schools at the most remote villages in Himalaya. If he can, then us must too!

Not only that, as what Mr. Zardari said, democracy is the greatest revenge toward dictatorship, extremist and terrorism.  The survival of democracy depends on the renunciation of violence and the development of nonviolent means to combat evil and advance the good. It is not the fact of democracy but the way in which democracy is exercised that ultimately determines whether democracy itself survives, and for this, we must act! We, as Indonesian, must stand against terrorism, as a threat toward democracy, peace and humanity! Its not time for us to be abstain coz sometimes, to be a complete human, we must take side, as mentioned at the ending of the Quiet American. Dont let the death of Benazir bhutto or any victims of the Bali & Marriott’s bombings fruitless! We must fight against terrorism!

Kenyang, langsung happy. wkwkwk.. Nonton IRIS episode terakhir, episode 20, sayangnya ceritanya berakhir tragis** jadi belum bikin mood beres...

Chat sama pacar, tapi tiba2 ilang.. sempet ribut bentar tadi, gara2 gak tahu gimana appear online ke dia doang, jadi nyari2 dulu caranya. heuw heuw... Ngomong mau nonton Avatar 3D. Dinginnya masih sekitar 1 C, but it is fine for me. Siapin jaket, dan sarung tangan. Done!

But, It is worthed for me, nonton film 3D pertama kali.
Yeah, i need chocolate***

Coklat lagi.. And my mood better :)

NCL sepi banget di christmas eve, pub sepi, jalanan sepi, ampe kalo jalan ngeliat butiran kecil salju tersisa di permukaan. Butiran ini kalau kena cahaya kayak sparkling gitu. Wah, suka banget. Selama perjalanan ngeliatin aja jalan di depan, kelap-kelip kena pantulan cahaya.. keren.. It makes me relax*

Sekalian tadi nonton Home Alone sie di sana. Masterpiece banget tuh film.. Smile and smile yang ada... :)

so, Merry Christmas all my blog reader, and Happy New Year..

Hope you all the best!!

Losing Proud and Possesion

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

Bangun Pagi

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009
Bangun paginya di sini jam 12. wakakaka. ,masalahnya ndak ada siangnya di sini. Habis Pagi langsung malem lagi.. :)

Semalem nulis email panjang di milis, ngebahas masalah TSC. but, you knew, if someone doesn't want your help, however you try to help. It will be useless. Kejadian dua kali nie, dulu mau nolongin temen, tapi ndak mau. Ya sudah, at least gw udah coba kesekian kalinya.

Jadi kita beresin target pribadi aja ah.

What a sunny day? Me like it!!

Obrolan Malam

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009
Barusan beres kerja.

Me learned a lot from him...

ndak lama minjem hardisk reza, saatnya nonton film-film terbaru... penasaran sama film yang ost nya dinyanyiin the tamper trap - sweet disposition. :)

have a lovely day to all... :)

let's our new journey begin!!

Ujung Genteng – a hidden paradise

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Last thursday (17th Dec 2009), me and Endah ( a good friend of mine from SMU 5 Sby) went to Ujung Genteng. After being lost for about half an hour we finally got to the departure point at McD Melawai (which btw.. already changed to Tony Jack’s), and met the rest of the crews which we have never met or acquinted before. I knew this trip from Endah, who knew about it from our senior. And, thats practically how everyone ended up with this trip. Knew it from somebody but totally dont have any clues of the rest of the crews. But thats awesome, coz u got both the adventures and u got many new friends! :)

So, exactly at 23.50 we hit the road. We got to Ujung genteng ~6 hours later. There, we went to visit the famous fountain Curug Cikaso, and the journey to explore the virgin Ujung genteng started :D

  • Curug Cikaso

To get to this fountain, first we must use the traditional boat and sail for about 10 minutes. Then, u need to take a lil walk before got to the fountain. It has 4 fountain, and since the weather was perfect, we are able to see the rainbow :) The sky was super clear, and u can breathe the clean morning air (not like Jakarta where u may ended up having ur pulmonary full of black smoke from fuel combustion :p)

  • Goa Gunung Sumbing

Next, we got back to the bus after creating some jumping pictures on the bridge nearby. The second destination is Goa Gunung Sumbing.

Located in literally, nowhere, without any clues of the cave, we walked passing some small streets in the village until we met our guide to the cave. An old man who quite funny and like to pose for picture with girls :) ) We then continue walking in the middle of rice terrace, on a very narrow pathway. He took us to the underground cave that only has 1 small door that will lead to very dark, wide area where we can explore around and see some of the nature-made statues of animal.

  • The making of brown sugar (or gula aren)

Next, we are taking motorcycle (or ojek) to visit villagers and see directly the making of brown sugar from coconut trees. It made us understand and appreciate that a small thing, actually takes lots of efforts from the farmer. It also open and remind us that despite all the modernity and wealthy lifestyle that Jakarta offers, many million people in Indonesia still live under poverty…

  • The beaches – ujung genteng

Afterwards, we went to Cipanarikan beach and take a long walk along the beach line. Its white sands is nice, soft and warm. We took again the jumping picture on the beach, get a little tanned, and play with the waves. Near sunset, we then had a Goodbye ceremony to our little turtles as we saw them depart to the ocean… :) Afterthat, all of us are being fascinated by the rich color that pangumbahan beach offer during sunset. You can also see some fishermans do fishing in the beach.. :)

  • Ombak 7

The next day, we went to Ombak 7. To get ther, as its located behind the protected and conservation forest, we should took a 3 hours off-road motorcycles!! How awesome is that rite? :)

You will experience offroad journey, being hit by grasses, and twigs along the way, having adrenaline rush as the motorcycle goes in a very steep hill and going down down down! You will also need to step down once in a while as you need to take a walk and pass the rivers with quite a  slippery stones and medium waves :D Overall, its super awesome!! Then, when u got to the ombak 7, u will love it! its beautiful, hidden, virgin beach!! Not many people there and its very clean. So yeah, this is definitely one thing that u shouldnt miss! However though, i recommend u to go ther not on a rainy day. Coz, the road to the beach is not easy and slippery, even in a dry sunny day. I could not imagine how bad it is if it was raining…. Beside, whats the point of playing in the beach if its raining rite? :D

Here it goes, the famous ombak 7 :D

So yeah.. thats pretty much of its.. Me and Endah unfortunately have to go back lil early as we need to do something on Sunday (you know, its difficult when u are a busy person :p).  We took the rented bus to Sukabumi, only 2 of us as the passengers (despite the 40 seats available) :D So exclusive heh?

Then.. in Sukabumi, we got into  a L300 with destination to Bogor. At first it was quite comfy as we had the back seat for just the two of us.. But then, the driver seek opportunity to take more passengers, and he forced us to seat with another 2 people, of which both of them was quite huge! :) ) It felt like a sardines got canned, u know.

Afterwards, we arrive in Bogor and took a metromini to Jakarta. Its already 11.30 pm. We were both already super tired ( i even actually have a cold..) and when just about landed in the dreamland, the driver ask us to step down and move to the angkot (public transportation). Weird thing is, i must say that the angkot is one of the coolest angkot i ever seen!!! It has the blue-ray disco lamp instead of boring 8 watt yellow lamp :) ) It is also installed by the coolest subwoofer, that bang aloud, just exactly like what we saw in Pimp my Ride cars !! Not only that, the driver also turn on the dance music (disco), make it a perfect disco angkot! :D

Anyway.. thats all folks :D I highly recommend u all to go check ujung genteng.. Its worth it! :D

Screen Snap : Print Screen Layar Ponsel Symbian

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Pertama-tama, aku coba software screenshot.

Hoho..I missed my blog. Well, have a nice blogging! ^^ (ditulis di sela-sela bertumpuknya laporan kuliah)

Emas Putih vs Platina

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

  1. * Auto-insert to comments AJAX based clickable images
  2. * Configurable display of two vote numbers, a combined one or both
  3. * Preventing voting fraud with one vote per IP address. This is less subject to manipulation than cookie based approaches. The author of a comment cannot rate his/her own comment.
  4. * Styling of popular and mostly debated comments based on on the votes
  5. * Poorly rated comments can be hidden in a click-to-see fashion.
  6. * Styling of the vote numbers differently.
  7. * Mouseover effect on images to entice voting
  8. * Choice of images and image size
  9. * Localization for multi-lingual support
  10. * Functions are provide for theme customization.
  11. * Allow vote types of: positive only, negative only votes or both.
  12. * Store votes in wp_comments table comment_karma field. Stored votes can be: positive only, negative only or combined.
  13. * A widget is provided as Comment Rating Widget to display the ratings along with recent comments.
  14. * Simple and light-weight (i.e. high performance). It’s also wp-cache and wp-super-cache friendly.
