Ok.. as a request from some people who already read about top 10 things girls like i posted before, i did a little research and got some input from my buddies about stuffs that guy are crazy about.

Hope this provide enough information and data for all the ladies out there who have been trying to figure out about the other species that share the same earth with us, a.k.a guys.

PS : This just for entertainment only yach.. There is no purpose to offend anyone :p

So.. lets check the list!!

10. Crazy about movies

Yes.. Men loves watching movies! Especially those with actions involving kicking some ass, punching & shooting stuffs around (no wonder that war movies, 300 and most of Quentin Tarantino’s films are creating million bucks and very popular amongst guys). Add some shed of blood there, and voila! Men are starring non-stop on the screen and got so excited like a little puppy when seeing a piece of meat.

Also.. they love to watch funny comedy! Even remember its funny quotes and mimic some of the famous dialogue. How many of your guy friend ever parodying Samuel L Jackson quotes from Snakes in a plane ? (“Enough is Enough! I hate this motherf**kin snake in this motherf**kin plane!”).

However though.. (Remember this carefully!!), men got soo allergic towards sappy romantic drama (well.. at least 90% of them). So.. NEVER EVER BRING UR DATE TO WATCH SAPPY ROMANTIC MOVIE ON YOUR FIRST DATE!!!! You want to know the reasons why?? Well.. lets face it. Sappy romantic comedy is BORING! PREDICTABLE, and unrealistic in many ways..

So, if you wanna know whether a guy interested or not to you girl, ask them to watch a romantic drama. If they say yes..then u can be quite certain that they are into you. They wouldnt want to suffer a sappy drama unless they have a different agenda:)

9. football

Either watching it, or doing it, most of guys love football. Perhaps for girls this is quite funny as we often did not get what is the excitement on 22 guys (10 player and 1 goalkeeper for each team) chasing over 1 single ball and try to score at opponent’s net in a 90 minutes match.

However though, actually myself is a big fans of AC Milan and Liverpool (well.. of course still weighting more on Milan) and from my own amusement over football is the uncertainty of win or lose on each match. No matter how great the players you have, sometimes if they f**ked up, they just screw the whole things and u will lose. The strategy plays a great deal in football, and the teamwork is even greater. Also.. its always awesome to see some great players (like Christiano Ronaldo or Kaka) do their techy cool stuffs and suppeeerrrr accurate shoot.

8. Obsessed about Six packs

Just like girls obsessed of having a super thin sliced body, men also obsessed with having a nice six packs abs. They know girl loves it (just admit it girls.. Who doesnt?? :p ) and its also a great pride over other guys if they have a nicer muscle. Thats y, they want and highly determine to spend hours in a gym doing a cardio training and weightlifting

7. Foods

Men loves foods and most of them eats a lot!! Burgers, Pizzas, chocolates. Just name it! As long as its not 100% grass, they will eat it :p My classmates in highschool even loves to make a junk pile or a volcano of rice in their plates and compete with others to each as much as they can.

Thats why, there is a saying that if you want to tame a guy’s heart, do it with his stomach! Cook for them!

6. Games & Fantasy sports

Not only crazy about real sports, men loves to hang out and do fantasy sports (well.. they definitely practice the muscle of their fingers and eyes though.. but not much of other body parts as i know of.. ) by playing games. Either Wii (well.. this one you can say it burns some callories), PS3, Nintendo DSP, XBOX or arcade games, they’re loving it! They can stay the whole night non-stop just to play COD (Call of Duty), FIFA 09, Bleach, Gear of War or Ragnarok online & Warcraft.

5. Music

Drolling over an i-pod, listening to mp3 songs, sings a song (Though some of them singing it in an soooo out of pitch and make his surrounding suffer over a high-noise environment), and play a music instrument (or even in a band) is a normal or perhaps daily routine for almost every guy i know. Music is their soul!

4. Girls

So sorry to reveal this news to you girl.. but.. yes.. often we will not ranked 1st in things that guy likes!! ) So, you may wonder what are the items that we must compete with for their attention?? Here it goes!! :p

3. Cars

A nice red ferrari is super sexy for them! or.. a tough looking Harley Davidson. Cars or motors is their soulmate. Often, they even tends to be more loyal to their cars rather than a girl! And has more patience to handle them. )

I agree that cars or motors are really beautiful & sexy. Sometimes even really creative and the design is just genius. But what is really make them love those stuff a lot? I am not so sure.. but probably.. the engine sounds and the high speed that car offer is creating an adrenaline rush that are exciting for them. Also.. men loves to be in control (who doesnt anyway??), and cars are much easy to control than anything else! I mean.. just put the gas on, shift the gear and hit the road! As simple as that.

Also.. it can be modified to match with the owner’s personality.Put some Nox tube, do lil modification, put a wide bumper, install a loud banging subwoofer and paint it with a certain design, and surely whoever ride that sexy car will got attention from other road user! And.. guys love it )

2. Gadgets

Most guy are techy savvy and loves to play with their gadgets. Whether it is an i-pod, blackberry cellphone, laptop, macbook, dslr camera, video cam, etc. . They love to accessorize themselves with those stuffs and got the mosttt update gadgets. Not only that.. they love to explore the features of those items, and guaranteed… many of them has, at least once, strip those items and do some trouble shooting.

1. Competition

Guys love to compete.. in almost every possible ways. Whether in job, money, power, or even silly stuffs like how many sausages they can eat within 10 minutes.. or how loud they can burb, or how goof they can be.They just love to compete. But guess thats what makes life interesting. Win some, lose some.

Once in a while, every one of us may feel sappy and melancholic. Probably either from hormonal thingy, or.. the situation surrounding ourselves force us somehow to think deeper than usual…

For me, as a field engineer, surrounded by a deep blue ocean in offshore rigs provide opportunity to enjoy a silent night, literally. A full moon accompanied by thousands bright stars scattered in the black sky, and other rigs or barges light sparklings from far, creates an image of fireflies coloring the darkest line and the elegant movement of ocean waves is what ive seen. All, somehow always create such a perfection timing for thinking about the simplicity of life.. and how actually wonderful life is.

Whenever u flipped through ur past ages.. All that u can remember vividly, is how happy we were.. Whether in ur holiday events, birthday party, or simply daily routine u did together with ur closest companions and friends. Not the saddest moments of our life! Not the sorrow.

Not only badly beaten by the global crisis, where some of us may remember the drama that US autocar-maker created last year crying for help over the bailout funds, apparently the storm for them has not ended yet. Several automaker recalling their products from the market!!

Lets check the facts :

1. September 2009 - Toyota said it would recall ~3.8 Mn cars from US due to its floor mat that they worry can come loose and force down accelerator. Its suspected in an accident that have killed five people.
2. October 2009 – Ford doing a recall rally impacting ~14 Mn (the last call was ~4.5 Mn alone!!) vehicles due to a problematic cruise control deactivation switch.
3. January 2010 – Toyota recall 5.6 Mn cars in US because of sudden acceleration. Its recorded as one of the biggest recall ever in US history!!
4. Honda recalled 646 K of its Fit/Jazz and city globally due to faulty window switch
5. France’s Peugeot Citroen recalled nearly 100K of peugeot 107 and Citroen C1 made in Czech where Toyota and PSA jointly made cars.
6. Feb 2010 – Toyota again recall its cars! 437K of Prius, Sai and Lexus hybrid globally.
7. Honda also recall another 438K cars globally to replace an airbag deflator that could rupture.
8. Nissan also following the other Japanese automaker unnecessary step by recalling its 76.4 K cars across 10 models in Japan and 2.2 K overseas due to potential defect resulting in engine failure
9. Suzuki motor also will recall 432.36 K unit after fire accident due to AirCon defect.
10. Daihatsu recall 60.7 K unit of minicar model due to its wiring problem
11. And then… GM says its recalling 1.3 Mn compact cars model : Pontiac G5 & Chevy Cobalt 2005-2010, Pontiac Pursuit 2005-2006, and Pontiac G4 2005-2006 in Mexico.

So yeah.. What the heck is happening in our dearest autocarmaker????

Is this a result of high pressure for them to create money as much and as fastest as possible, keep continuing the cash flow? So that somehow.. somehow.. the defects are going undetected and they already launched the products too fast to the market??? This punch definitely not going to bring them anywhere near pra-crisis situation.. In fact, this just worsen their wound….

Hi, there.. It has been a loooongg time since my last post here.. Now it’s 1.15 am in Korea.. Time to sleep, I know, yet I just updated my fb status into what you read as the title of this post.. That’s written in Korean, hopefully your computer can read it.. If you do, it’s quiz time!! What is the meaning of those entangled lines, circles and squares? I gave you the first hint,, The second hint, it’s an expression of hope on the occasion of New Year.. It’s quite equal with Happy New Year, though as I said before, it is also a hope, not just a congratulation words..

Now why do I write this post? It’s not just to give you a quiz, I tell you.. I am about to think, plan, make and write a kind of resolution for the upcoming New Year.. Hey, hold on there!! you are already late for more than a month!! Easy, guys.. I’m not that procrastinator to make a strategy after the war begins.. It’s not about THAT New Year.. I’m trying to make a resolution for Lunar New Year here, which is three days after.. For those who don’t know what I mean with Lunar New Year here, go google it.. Oh, you could try Chinese New Year too..

Err, back to MY resolution here.. The reason why I make it in Lunar New Year, simply because I didn’t make it at Solar New Year (our ‘normal’ new year), too much things to do and think back then.. As for Muslim New Year, well, I forgot that one.. Anyway, it’s not like I ever made a proper resolution before.. I mean, for some years before, I did make a couple ‘targets’ for the upcoming year, but I just completely forget them in the battle of daily life.. Even at the end of that upcoming year, I gotta try so hard just to recall those targets I made before, so that I could, well, evaluate, contemplate, revise, then make an upgraded targets for the next upcoming year.. The bottom line, the idea was just out of the thin air.. Just lonely in my lab, after losing bucks in fb poker, ‘ting!’..

Most of my lab mates celebrates Lunar New Year.. The Vietnamese senior and Chinese junior leave to their homeland, the Koreans are gone to their hometown.. And here, I alone, losing bucks in fb poker, think and consider and weigh and try to decide what, why, how, when and where my New Year resolution should be..

First, the academic resolution.. A perfect GPA for next semester.. I fell way too much last semester..

Second, the also-academic resolution.. One of three: international conference, award, journal.. The more the merrier..

Third, the personal resolution.. Be responsible to MY family.. The hardest and complicated yet challenging one..

Fourth, the religious resolution.. Start it all over and catch up soon.. Back to the road, soldier..

Fifth, the organization resolution.. PERPIKA must be better than one year before.. Attention: This is not a half-year resolution..

Sixth, the other-personal resolution.. GAIN WEIGHT!! Break the ‘60′ curse!!

Seventh, the yet-another-personal resolution.. You know what to do, now DO IT!! .. To the next level!!

Right, that’s all! Seven.. um.. Is there any cool, famous and catchy word for my Seven ‘thing’? Oh well, let’s just call the the Seven Sins to be Atoned.. Now, though some of it has no specific quantitative goal/target, i think they are hard yet achievable (I hope and trust) enough.. So, lets the war begin!! See you next 설랄!! (설랄 / Seollal is the Korean word for Lunar New Year)

Note: Another thing about why I pick Lunar New Year to make a resolution, they have three holidays for it in Korea, more than any holiday!! Except Chuseok of course, but how come we make a new year resolution without a new year?

1995 – 2009. One decades has passed and now I’m in my best age and going to be 25 years in 2010. Usually, after receiving unhappy news in newspaper (like news of crashed stock, or political riots happening in other parts of the world, or possible inflation ahead, or a scandalicious political issues that we dont have any clues which party is right or wrong (i mean.. we live in indonesia after all, where anything may not as it seems… – and as such i tried my best not to criticize or comment on politics-related issues due to the exact same reason)) or any stressful occassion , people find alcoholic drinks as really tempting. A fast getaway to run (for a while) from any problem, ranging from the madness of divorce and alimony bargain wars, to the neurotic mother-in-law, or the ticking time and tons of unstoppable questions of when will you tie the knot, financial problem, or work problem..

At that kind of time, wine, champagne, cognac, vodca, tequilla’s shot, gin, baileys, scotch, whiskey and beer seems to be the best options for reducing the stress level we had.The temptations that alcohol offer is very high and its difficult for us to say no…

However though, if u r happened to be a moslem or person who choose not to drink, here are some reasons i can think of to persist from the alcohol temptations : ( i did not guarantee it will work 100% though ;p ).

1. It’s bitter

Yep, unlike chocolate or most fruit juice with sugar, alcohol is bitter.. (A friend of mine who is a chocoholic does not drink  because of this reason and this reason only :p)

2. You may end up in a weirdest place ever!

“Oh no!! Not my cage again!”

“Hmh… the water smells funky…”

3. If drunk, you may end up doing something you regret

I choose avoid drinking alcohol as i am afraid i might not sober and doing something i regret.. I know that i can be wild even without any alcohol, and as such.. i didnt dare to imagine what are the wild things i might do if i ever get drunk ! :p

In addition, i have seen a friend could not shut his mouth up and telling everyone of his secrets (including activities in bed!! ) when they drunk..

In addition, when people got drunk, they may ended up stripping off clothes, drinking from toilet, revealing their actual sex orientation, etc2.. Things can get ugly…and unless you ready to reveal your darkest secret (yep.. every one of us must have a secret! and secret is what makes human a human), do not even think to get drunk..

4. You become the rat experiments of your friend creativity

5. Its a more express ticket to heaven… (or hell?)

According to CDC – Dept. of Health and Human Services USA, excessive drinking is associated with numerous health problem, including:

1. Chronic diseases such as liver cirrhosis ; pancreatitis ; various cancers, high blood pressure; and psychological disorders
2. Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS)
3. Alcohol abuse or dependence.

All of which provide shorter life span

6. Its dangerous.

Though danger is sexy, excessive drinking may lead to unintentional injuries, such as traffic crash, fall, burning, drowning, etc. Its bad enough to hurt yourselves, but the problem is, drinking may also harm other people..

My friend once told me that when he was young, he drunk and drove a car with his other 2 friends. Unfortunately, the car slipped and crashed.. He was behind the wheel and accountable for the death of 1 girl who sat at the back seat of his car..  Since then, he vow not to drink..

7. It will break my father’s heart
My father is one of the most important person in my life.. and i know that if i drink alcohol, it will break his heart. Since alcohol is prohibited in my religion, he wants me to do the right way and as such.. i will try my best to comply with it

If you care enough with someone, do not get into excessive drinking.. its sad, bad, and it will break their hearts..

In addition though, you can always order virgin cocktail (alcohol free) when you hang out with your friends. Virgin mohitos or pina colada are the good ones to try

An old wise man once told us that speech can be more dangerous than a riffle (though Stanley Kubrick may disagree on his movie Full Metal Jacket where he said “one rifle one gun, one for killing one for fun” as the basic survival thingy in Vietnam war).  Its also a powerful tool that every politicans that has hunger for power must has. Its also a requirement for every presidential candidate should possess. Though,  for George W Bush he was not a great orator at all but he was a great comedian. A true nature instead as when he almost failed to keep us laugh, the right-hit-on-the spot  by a shoe at his cartoonish face save him from embarassment of not being funny and we still love that moment   Also, he does not need to be great orator as he has his beloved secretary Rumsfell will save him.  

  

And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.” 

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

 This topic still much relevant as today, racism or inequality toward one another still exist although perhaps in less apparent way. This speech is a reminder for us that every men is created equal and that we should always and always hold to this principle. A man losing his humanity if he treated other differently based on color of the skin, or religion, or race!   

2. We shall fight on the beaches – Winston Churchill 

….We shall not flag nor fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France and on the seas and oceans; we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air. We shall defend our island whatever the cost may be; we shall fight on beaches, landing grounds, in fields, in streets and on the hills. We shall never surrender and even if, which I do not for the moment believe, this island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, will carry on the struggle until in God’s good time the New World with all its power and might, sets forth to the liberation and rescue of the Old. .
 

The beauty of this speech is that the rythm are fascinating, and the spirit itself. Whenever i hear this, i always can picture the war of Omaha, just like one depicted in famous Saving Private Ryan opening..  Its always give me a goosebumps of how those soldiers fight with a full spirit, with a full hope on god’s faith over a victory  for the sanity of humanity and defeat Hitler’s insanity.  

3. Abraham Lincoln – The Gettysburg Address  

Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation or any nation so conceived and so dedicated can long endure. We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting-place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. But in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this ground.The brave men, living and dead who struggled here have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living rather to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us — that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion–that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain, that this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth. 

I really love this speech.  Especially the last sentences above. The new birth of freedom!  Government of the people, by the people, for the people! 

Anyway.. in here our motherland, we also had some of the great orators. Remember our founding father Bung karno? Hell yeah his speech at Lapangan Banteng was soo powerful that it like pouring a gasoline over a fire. It burns spirit toward fighting for our independence that we have waited for 350 years.. (hmh.. can’t imagine how sucks it was being a slave on your own land.. ) Also.. i remember Bung Tomo. The famous heroes from Surabaya. He gave his famous speech toward his legion/infantery prior to the great battle of 10 November.  

One last thing.. The speech of the year 2009 goes to………………………………..Barney Stinson!!!  Love his speech below. 

   

For the first time…EVER…the three of us are single at the same time. I’ve dreamed about this day, boys, and it is going to be LE-GEN-DARY. Together we will own this city. Any time a girl wants to get back at her ex-boyfriend, we’ll be there. Any time a girl wants to…solve her father issues through promiscuity and… binge drinking WE WILL BE there. Any time a bachelorette party drives through the city in a limo, sticking their heads out the sunroof, shouting “WHAT’S UP NEW YORK!!”, we will be what is ‘up’ New York! Gentlemen, we are about to embark on…    

Oh man, you guys did it, didn’t you?!

Dear all…  Hows your day? Ok.. If you said ” same old.. same old.. Staring at my excel spreadsheets, wearing glasses with serious mimic pretending like a working bee while actually waiting for the boss to pass my cubicle and securely surf over (or even stalking!! yess… i know some of u did ) my friends on facebook”, well… let me tell you a thing to help pass another usual day. Watch this freakin awesome TV show before u go to bed, and trust me.. u will smile as wide as joker tomorrow

10. Sheldon – Big bang theory

Why we love him? He definitely not someone you want as a roommate, but he always has the best line, super honest, crazy, nerd, and deal with life like scientist deal with an experiment. And.. he has the little resemblance with some of us..  a hard-core engineers who loves to play halo, warcraft yet still play it cool when a chick/dude pass by. The difference is.. he’s cool with what he is.. love it!  Super brain-niac sheldon!!   

9. Sylar – Heroes

Why he is awesome? He is creepy, freaking crazy dude who loves to kill but without him, Heroes is as good as death to me.   Beside.. he has this superpower that everyone longing for… 

8.  Dwight Scrute – The office

He is the top salesman in the office, he is hungry of authority, lack of sense of humor, and gullible. He is an easy target of pranks. He loves battlestar galactica, harry potter, and he is the greatest sidekick to the tv show!!

7. Samantha – Samantha Who

A devil turns into angel due to her amnesia. Seeking for redemption for her past evil evil behaviour. She is awesome, not only when she already become a nice person, but even when she was the devil wears prada. Love when she tried to mimic a panic wife who tried to pass a police line of a burning apartment pretending that her husband might got injurred in the accident just because she is too lazy to walk on more blocks. She was wearing high heels that time,  and yes… for all girls who have suffered wearing heels after a night out, walking on more blocks is like a curse.. Hell over heels!! So yeah.. tricking police like that, way to go babe!! (PS: i’m thinking to do acting like her sometimes when police pull over me on the road.. Hope it works )

6. Fez – that 70’s show

Why we love him? Ok. here are the reasons. Who does not love his awesome fashion style with bright beachy motifs? Also.. Who does not love his foreign accent? He is kind and naive, goofy and charming!

5. Michael Scofield

He’s the hawtest at TV show (well.. practically when he is at season 1 and 2.. before he puts on fat belly… ). He is also super smart (yes dude, girl loves smart guy.. though we may not understand what the hell he’s talking about), charming, loyal, and every guy can dream to be, and what every girl wants. 

4. Jack Bauer- 24

He is awesome government agent and somehow alway can deal with even the most deadly threats toward the nation. he is the best agent ever and so talented.

3. Veronica Mars

Sassy girl, smart detective, can kick some ass and great photographers. Beautiful, funny, cute and talented.. Who will not fall over this character?

2.  Sue Sylvester - Glee

This weird teacher who wants to topple down the glee club is the one that makes the show interesting. Without her evil plans it will be plain:) This is one of her quotes: “I’m thankful for bamboo’s durability and resistance to splintering, making my ‘discipline cane’ the perfect teaching tool” haha.. i think she should work in a marinir camp rather than school teacher who do cheerios!

 

 1. Legend…. wait for it… wait for it….Dary Barney Stinson – How i met your mother

Ok.. who is not loving Barney? He is the mastermind of the playbook, the inventors and the writer of the holy sacred “Bro code”. he is the best wing man, awesome suit-up hero, the womanizer of the century (200 woman in conquest!! how awesome!! ), analyst of the chart hot vs crazy, the best high-fivers ever!! My deepest respect goes for him!!! And yes, he is the character with most awesome catchphrases

Dulu gw tukang ngekor.. Kemana nyokap pergi, ke situ lah gw membuntuti. Rasanya nyaman. Banyak yang bilang kami mirip, walau mungkin cuma dari sisi fisik (hehe).
